ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS DAY 2024

On April 24th, we celebrated Administrative Professionals Day, and treated Becky and Barb to sweet cookie delights. Unsung heroes of the office, these two professionals are responsible for a monumental amount of  tasks that keep the offices and production running smoothly at MariCorp. From water crew housing assignments and reservations for our installation crews, to payroll and insurance services for all employees, no facet of the business isn’t positively impacted by these two.

HISTORY OF ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS DAY 2024

Previously known as Secretaries Day or Admin Day, in the United States, it’s celebrated on the last Wednesday in the month of April. After World War II, there was a scarcity of skilled office administrative and secretarial personnel because of the birth decline during the Depression in the United States.

Post-war business boomed, and in 1942, the National Secretaries Association was created, formed not only to recognize the contributions of administrative personnel, but to help develop interest and attract workers to this field.

In 1952, U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Charles W. Sawyer, officially proclaimed June 1-7 of that year as “National Secretaries Week”. The following year this commemoration  became official, designated as National Secretaries’ Day, on June 4th. In 1955. By 2000, the observation was moved to the last full week in April, with Wednesday noted as Administrative Professionals Day, to include the wide range of responsibilities and job titles of administrative staff in our modern economy.
