THIS YEAR’S WEAR YOUR LIFE JACKET TO WORK DAY IS FRIDAY, MAY 17
Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day is a campaign designed to help bring awareness about the use of life jackets and the many different types of jackets that are available. Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite life jacket to work and to post a photo on their favorite social media site. It’s also Life Jacket World Record Day when thousands of people around the world wear their favorite life jackets to set the world record for most life jackets worn in one day. If you’re a marina or business that would like to take part, you can register here. Here’s a video from last year. Since the event was introduced in 2010, there have been more than 40,000 participants worldwide. The current world record was set in May of 2015 when 10,917 people gathered at more than 250 events.
Wear Your Life Jacket To Work Day is also the pre-kickoff to the annual National Safe Boating Week, May 19 – May 25, sponsored by the National Safe Boating Council. Take the Life Jacket Pledge or fill out a life jacket pledge card. A free boating safety PDF calendar of summer events can be downloaded from the Safe Boating Campaign website.
