4 Reasons to Switch to LED Lighting in Your Marina

With rising energy costs and light bulb efficiency regulations passed by the federal government in the last decade, use of LED (or light-emitting diode) lighting has been on the rise. If it’s time to replace your marina’s lighting, then it’s time to consider the benefits of using LED lighting. Here are a few reasons why.

  1. Lifespan– According to the US Department of Energy, the average lifespan of an incandescent bulb is around 1000 hours. Compare that to an average of 25,000 hours for an LED! This means you’ll not only buy them less often, but you (or your marina staff) will also change them less often. It’s a one-two punch of saving time AND money.
  2. Energy efficient– LED bulbs use 50-90% less energy to give off the same amount of light as incandescents. This translates into long-term cost-savings for you.
  3. Environmentally sound– Unlike traditional bulbs, LEDs contain no mercury or chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), making them much more environmentally friendly. Lowering your marina’s carbon footprint is never a bad thing. And don’t be afraid to tout your environmentally conscious choice to your patrons. Being a “green” business is great PR.
  4. Durability– LEDs, unlike incandescent and fluorescent bulbs, are solid-state components. This means they contain no tubes or filaments. Tubes and filaments make traditional lighting much more easily damaged, which necessitates more frequent replacement.

LED lighting is quickly replacing traditional incandescent and fluorescent lighting. No matter what your reason for choosing it, you can count on LED lighting saving you time and money, something every business owner enjoys.
