Perry Yacht Club

In 2019, the half-century old sailboat-only Perry Yacht Club was facing flood water about 23 feet above normal, which was higher than breakwaters. Summer storms damaged the docks that were already being repaired at a high rate to the point of failure.

Perry Yacht Club, the only membership-based marina located on Perry Lake near Kansas City, Missouri, can provide for a sailing haven year-round for its hardiest members, necessitating an aggressive winter installation timeline. Construction was coordinated around scheduling the move of 120 sailboats out of harbor in fall and back into harbor early spring. Members expected and planned to lose a month from their sailing season. MariCorp came in a couple of weeks ahead of schedule and is credited for saving an entire season of fun.

Perry Yacht Club is managed by volunteer officers and a Board of Governors and boasts 350 members, roughly 90% occupancy in their 130 new slips, including a large population of 28-foot and bigger sailboats. Many have been members since its opening in 1971.
