Kingfisher Bay Marina
DEMOPOLIS, AL - TOMBIGBEE RIVER
The Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway connecting the Tennessee River to the Tombigbee River and providing passage to and from Mobile Bay is the strategic location of Kingfisher Bay Marina and provides access to thousands of miles of inland waterways to the Mobile basin.
Originally a 70-acre cotton field, the land was dredged of sand, and a bulkhead surrounding the harbor was built. Maricorp then manufactured and installed the floating boat docks. Kingfisher Bay now includes 89 boat slips and provides many modern amenities such as a community building with a wet bar on top, boaters’ laundry, restrooms, showers, swimming pool, shore power, potable water, pump-out services at each slip, and golf carts. These boat slips are much larger than the standard size slip, with the majority designed to accommodate houseboat-sized vessels and over one-third of them measuring 20’ x 60’ or larger.
The prime location of Kingfisher Bay Marina has supported annual growth by providing safe harbor for southern coastal boat owners wanting to protect their vessels during hurricane season. The additional seasonal berthing was partially funded by a Boating Infrastructure Grant.
