Scorpion Bay Marina

MORRISTOWN, AZ - LAKE PLEASANT

Lake Pleasant, a mere 30-minute drive from metropolitan Phoenix, boasts 114 miles of shoreline within a 23,362-acre park. Seizing a unique opportunity presented by this desert oasis, multi-faceted developers Desert Troon Companies acquired Scorpion Bay Marina in 2015. With MariCorp’s assistance, they promptly expanded wet storage from 300 to nearly 500 slips while also boosting dry storage capacity from 240 to 401 boats, envisioning the potential addition of 300 more wet slips.

To lure in more customers, they introduced a 40-boat rental fleet, facilitated jet ski rentals through a vendor, and launched a floating restaurant with a high-class menu available for boat-side delivery. A standout addition has been Paqua Park, a 7,000-square-foot floating obstacle course. More recently, five floating cabin rentals were added, offering unobstructed lake views on the marina’s outskirts. MariCorp was contracted to build the floating docks supporting these cabins.

In July 2017, a microburst windstorm wreaked havoc on Lake Pleasant, inflicting severe damage on the marina. Responding swiftly, the MariCorp team arrived on site within a week, assessed the damage, and rapidly reconstructed a substantial portion of the docks, all while keeping the rest of the marina operational.
